Production Training
In commercial communications, Production Training involves the oversight, skill development, safety, scheduling and direction of those entering the field. Since the advent of digital communication, more interns and students have been expected to have a diversified skillset, which may include but is not limited to videography, photography, writing and interviewing, among others.
“One of the most delightful experiences that I had at South Suburban College is to be able to say that I met some amazing friends. People who pushed me to my level of potential that I did not know I had. There were awesome people, like Kaitlin, who said, ‘Tiffini, I see something in you.’ To have someone see something in you that you don’t see in yourself and teach you skills that you use now in your career that then helps in your everyday survival is amazing. For that, I will be forever grateful.”
“From camera operation to script writing to on-screen direction, the hands-on training I received from Kaitlin during my time at South Suburban College was invaluable in my chosen career of multimedia production. I was able to develop my skills with real life coaching and experience, and be prepared for professional application beyond the classroom.”
“Kaitlin provided me with one-on-one training. She reviewed my articles and video edits, giving feedback, suggestions and encouragement. Our interactions helped me understand why media is created. My experience with her greatly impacted my career.”

“I greatly appreciate the knowledge and the critiques I received from Kaitlin as a former student volunteer with Communication Services. To this day I still think of the valuable insights she shared with me when I take photos.”

“Kaitlin and Eric are great instructors. They are knowledgeable. I am appreciative of the syllabus we received during each class, the instruction, along with the hands-on assignments and feedback…A neat mention was how to take a picture of a moving object and capture the light as it passes. While out with a group of photographers, I was able to get the shot on my own camera and see it…There is so much more to photography than pointing and clicking and thanks to these two instructors I am aware of this.”
